Rock chick & Princess

Hello little batty bats! As you might remember, I recently graduated and now that I have also successfully thrown a graduation party for myself I feel I finally have the strength to talk a little about my thesis too. :D

I wanted to do something related to comics as my thesis, since reading and making comics are two of my oldest and dearest hobbies. Last summer a girl from my school that I had previously met at fashion photography class contacted me on Facebook and asked if I was interested in illustrating her comic scripts. I was so lucky, since I'm not much of a writer and I had been so worried about my upcoming thesis project because of that! I wanted to do comics but I was lacking a good story to back up my art skills. Me and this girl, Henna, met up and soon I was already sketching up characters and first strips for the comic!

 Henna already had a title for the comic, which would be Rokkityttö & Rinsessa (=Rock chick & Princess) and as you might guess the comic is about two very different friends, pretty, sexy, wild and stubborn Alma (the princess) and serious and sarcastic over-achiever Tiia (the rock chick). For my thesis I illustrated 30 strips of Alma's and Tiia's adventures, wrapped them up in an album and made a little website for the comic (as cherry on top).

Simultaneously with the comic I started doing research on comic illustration, since I noticed it's quite different to just illustrate comics from a script than to make comics all by yourself, with your own story. Eventually I found a name for my thesis and decided that the title would be: Serial illustration - Illustrating comics from exterior script. It is supposed to be a small guide for those interested in comic illustration specifically.

The thesis as a whole went surprisingly well. I got a 4 (5 being the best grade) from it and also a little diploma from the comic book, for creating a commercially functional, style-wise solid quality comic, that also shows makers' creative handiwork.

All in all my life is very good right now. I have some work projects coming up (from my own field of expertese that is!) and I'm also illustrating some cross-word puzzles as a part time job. :) And continuing to draw Rokkityttö & Rinsessa of course! :D Also, some Rokkityttö & Rinsessa related art is currently on display in here, Kesä kaikilla - Oulun sarjakuvaseuran kesänäyttely, among other great comic related illustrations. ^w^

Teehee, today was a bit special day for me, because... ta dah! I graduated! So I'm officially a graphic designer now, at your service! ♥ I asked Wolf to take a picture of me and my friend J, who also graduated.

I just came to make this quick announcement, before heading to celebrate our graduation at friend's parents' summer cottage. A little bit of bubbly, barbeque, lovely weather and great friends, could life be any more awesome right now? ♥ I need to behave, though, since tomorrow I'm going to a local erotic shop's ladies night to show and tell a little bit about burlesque with lovely Madam Hardware! Hiya fellas!

I'm beginning to think that it is impossible for me to update this blog regularly. The problem is, when I actually do something that would be worthwhile to update I'm most likely not taking photos of the event, but enjoying it fully. I suck at blogging, haha... but yeah I actually came to babble a bit about the past couple of days weeks months.

Some of you probably know that I'm attempting to graduate this spring. That means the whole year I have been juggling several school projects to get points, working on my thesis and the project going with it, filling up my portfolio and on my spare time, practicing burlesque.

Boohoo my laptop is all dusty.

Also, I have an art exhibition coming up soonish. I'm up to my elbows in paint but then again I really enjoy painting! I just have a very tight schedule, which sucks because I would really like to spent even more time to finish up each painting. :I

We also have another burlesque gig coming up, so I have been making props, mainly new pasties. ♥ I really like making them, even though I'm still not very skilled at it... But well, my boobies ain't complaining. :D

Next Sunday I'm also going to model again, it has been ages since I have been in front of a camera. I'm really, really excited about the project! The photographer gave me a little something beforehand to make preparations... guess what we'll be shooting? :D

Of course, I have had some free time also. I have spent it visiting friends and relatives, having friends over at our place, partying, playing Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons... oh yeah and I turned 24 in the end of February also. Too bad I didn't take any pictures from my party, it was Alice in Wonderland -themed. :) I also ordered something nice for myself from ebay afterwards. ♥

Squee~! Absinthe spoon! It cost  around ten euros with postage. :3

And these beauties! I needed a new pair of party heels for winter since my loyal Pleasers are finally falling apart after 4 years of excessive wearing. :< But these are so pretty! Cheap too, around 30 euros with postage. ♥

Truth to be told I have been shopping quite a lot, but only second hand. I cleaned up our closets and threw out/sold/donated dosens of kilos of clothes and well, there wasn't much left so I really needed some new basic everyday wear. I might show those items too, depends whether Wolf is willing to take photos. :3

Meh, my life has been busy as hell lately, I'm hoping summer won't be nearly as hard. I have been looking for a perfect job after graduation,and I hope I can start already during summer but still, it cannot be this hard. :D But to all to my readers: happy springtime, Easter is coming up and that means CHOCOLATE. ;3 ♥

Barbarian rage

Hi! As I mentioned earlier I attended a fashion photography course at our school and got to use the studio again! :3 Unfortunately I haven't asked the models yet weather it's ok to post their pictures here, but I took some photos of Wolf too on my spare time so I'll post them at least! I thought about some sort of barbarian/fantasy theme for this shoot, please tell me what you think of these photos! Wolf was doing awesome job as my model, he is actually one of the best models that I have ever shot! I am so proud of my man. <3

C-c-c-combo breaker!

Hi. As you've probably noticed from the lack of posts I've been busy as hell. And now it's time to tell you why, at least partially. I have been doing my project studies at school which means I have been working my ass off as a graphic/web/set designer for our journalism students' internet radio and TV called Kombo. Tomorrow we'll finally go live! If you want to listen to our radio and see our TV shows, go check us out on our website. :>

She's in parties

Hi! I'm sorry about the lack of updates... I've been working from 8.30 to 22.00 almost every day and when I haven't I have most definitely been drunk. Last Friday I attended to OSAKORock event, which was held in the local heavy metal bar called Hevimesta. I had so much fun and I met many friends there and even managed to make some new acquaintances, nice to meet you both Variaznel and Neeppu. :3 Anyway, speaking of parties I just came to tell you that if you happen to be in Oulu on Wednesday (19.10.) there will be a goth/industrial/etc. club night on Nuclear Nightclub. The club is called Chambre Noir and the tickets will be 2e. I'll be there for sure, yay! <3

Heips! Anteeksi viimeaikainen blogihiljaisuus... Olen puurtanut koulun parissa puoli ysistä ilta kymmeneen lähes päivittäin ja silloin kun en ole tehnyt töitä olen melko todennäköisesti ollut kännissä. Viime perjantaina kävin tuulettumassa OSAKORockissa joka järjestettiin tänä vuonna Hevimestassa. Ilta oli tosi hauska, paljon kavereita tuli vastaan ja pari uutta tuttavuuttakin jopa. oli hauska tututstua Variaznel ja Neeppu. :3 Kummiskin bileistä puheen ollen piipahdin vain kertomaan että jos satutte olemaan Oulussa keskiviikkona (19.10.) niin Nuclear Nightclubissa olisi tarjolla gootti/industrial/jne. klubi-ilta. Klubi kantaa nimeä Chambre Noir ja liput sinne on tosiaan sen huikeat 2e. Itsehän suuntaan sinne, jeii! <3

Now I'm already runnig late so that's about it for today. Btw, wish me luck since I'm starting pole dancing again today! I'll be back later to tell how it went... :D Oh! And then I also need to ramble a bit about Dr. Professor's Thesis of Evil since I finally saw it on Saturday. Anyway, stay tuned!

What animates you no longer animates me

Just wanted to show you what I (among some other students from my school) have been doing lately. We had this one week animation course and this is the final product. :D I don't think anyone of had done much animation before so it was pretty interesting task to crap this out. :D Anyway ahem... enjoy. xD

Piipahdin vain esittelemään mitä minä (ja muutama muu oppilas meidän rakkaasta opinahjosta) ollaan saatu ajalliseksi viimeaikoina. Meillä oli siis viikon mittainen animaatiokurssi ja tässä on valmis tuotos. :D Kukaan meistä ei varmaankaan ollut animoinut ennen oikein mitään, eli oli astetta mielenkiintoisempi temppu paskantaa tuo ulos. :D Mutta siis öhöm... nauttikaa. xD

Movie time!

Hi again! Sorry about this small blogging break I've had, I've been super busy with school. We had this course where we had to make three short films and I took part in two. On the other film I was screenwriter, director, gaffer (the guy working with lamps) and editor and in the other film I was responsible of boom (the mic) and sound. The cover of the first film looks like this.

If it's ok with rest of the film crew I try to upload this on youtube and link it here too. :) But anyway I was thinking that I could just tell a little bit of what I have been doing the last few weeks. And show pictures!

As you all propably know, Finland won the World Championship in icehockey. Yay! I've played icehockey myself for several years. And of course when Finland won I was super happy and we just had to go celebrate a little. :D Here's a picture of how wolf and I looked that night. Yay for beer and blue lipstick. :D

We also had another reason to celebrate. Wolf and I had our "three years engaged" anniversary. <3 We just prepared great food, exchanged gifts and had a good time together. <3

 I just love steaks made by Wolf, that guy sure knows how to cook. <3 Btw, the cultery in the picture is a recent flea market find. Six steak forks and six knives (all stainless steel) together only 1,50e!

Wolf bought me Mango shower gel and body lotion from The Body Shop. I just love the scent. <3

Here's a (really bad) photo of the card that I made for Wolf. :3 I also gave him a silver ring with a black stone and a dirty book. ;3

Yay and Wolf also took some pictures of me on the balcony. :3 The sunset was so pretty too. <3

And finally like about a week from our anniversary we decided to go see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I liked it very much although not as much as I liked the three previous ones. But that mermaid sure was dreamy. <3

From now on I will try my best to blog more regularly, maybe later this week or the next... of course I could just tell you the rest about how I've been lately but I'm simply too tired to do that right now. I have a terrible hangover because we had our karonkka (to celebrate the finished short films) yeasterday. Also my elbow is busted and I have huge blisters in my feet. :D But I had so much fun though. xD Anyway, see you in a bit! I hope... :D

The sandman stood me up.

I didn't sleep at all last night. I don't know why, I just couldn't. Anyway, in the morning I went to school and I was a bit hyper. Now, 12 hours (including some schoolwork, a long grocery shopping trip and some sewing) later, I feel exhausted. But as I said, I managed to sew a bit! This time I decided to modify one old Living Dead Souls top of mine (the one with no sleeves, a hood, skeleton print and attachable fishnet shirt with harness, I could't find a picture from the internet and forgot to take one) and fix a pair of fake leather pants that I bought from the nearby flea market earlier this week (they cost only 1 euro). You see, the top had some popper buttons, because of the attachable fishnet shirt and I was allergic to the nickel in them... So I removed the popper parts from the shoulders, removed the hood, widened the neckline and took the top in a bit and voilà! Here's the result.

And about the pants... I mentioned that they were very, very cheap. We'll they were in a pretty bad shape. Someone had tried to take them in by hand and the work was... poor. So I took them in again, this time by machine. I also turned around the ends of the legs and removed the ugly belt holders (one had already almost fallen off). Here's a picture of the pants also.

I must say I quite like the result. Also, when I went to shop some groceries I stopped by at Seppälä and bought to pairs of black lace panties, 2 euros each. So, today's improvement is pretty much just my ever growing wardrobe. :D Well, I did manage to take some pretty good photographs on our photography course at school earlier this week (and I usually don't), so I guess that counts as achievement. :) And yeah, the diet is still doing well, I should probably weight myself this weekend. :) So that's it for this pretty tiresome day, nighty night!
