A little home decor tutorial

Hi again. :3 This week I finally had a little time to spare and even though I was still a bit tired after IIK!! related sleep deprivation, I decided to do some DIY stuff for a change. I've been meaning to get some candleholders or lanterns to hang on the bathroom ceiling, since in this house it is forbidden to make holes to the bathroom walls. I haven't managed to find any good ones that would fit our current color scheme, but then I suddenly had an idea.

 

I've had these two candleholders for a long time, but they were in pretty bad shape and the color was a bit off too. The paint was chipped and one jewel was missing. However, they had potential, so...

I took some nail polish remover and removed the chipped paint with it (and a rough sponge). It came off pretty easily.

I also happened to have some clear jewels left from another DIY project that I did years ago. So I replaced the purple ones with clear ones.

And here's the result! These fit much better to our current bathroom color scheme. They were in use first time today and I'm really satisfied. :) I also bought a mini speaker for my phone the other day, so we can listen to music while we are enjoying the warmth of our sauna with candle light and cold drinks. Ahhhhh is there anything more relaxing than that? ♥

Like a bat out of hell!

Long time no see, darklings!

I am sincerely sorry that I just vanished from the face of the internet, but I had some rather unexpected changes in my life recently. The biggest one of those was a sudden change of apartment! We had been living in our (now ex) apartment for a year and this whole time our sewers kept on giving us shit (yes, literally). We have had to call plumbers to out apartment probably over twenty times during the past year, often in the middle of the night, too. Finally our landlords suggested that we should move out to another apartment, so they can rip out the floors and really find out where the problem lies. Long story short we ended up changing the scenery a bit more than we intended at first, we now have a slightly bigger apartment, which is also nearer to the town center and almost next to a really nice graveyard. :) Moving was a real pain in the butt though, since we didn't exactly plan it, but we managed, thanks to our friends & family who helped out a lot.

We also ordered a new couch, which will arrive tomorrow, whee! It was sort of an anniversary gift from us, to us, since last Saturday me and Wolf had our anniversary (we have been together six years now ♥).

Besides the moving, I have had some pretty draining deadlines and stuff, but I'm just happy I have some work! It is not easy to find work as a graphic designer, with the economy like this and all, but I hope it'll get better in time. :)

Ahem... and the real reason I'm posting now is that I finally had time to edit some photos of my paintings in the Guilty Pleasures art exhibition. Some of the works I have shown you earlier in this entry, but here's all the new ones!

Whiplash girlchild in the dark

Hello again dear readers. I have been trying to post this for a week or so, but there has been some... divine interventions. ;D Anyway. I came to introduce my new lovers, oh how firm is their embrace. <3

Hei vaan taas rakkaat lukijat. Mulla on ollut aikomus postata tämä tyyliin viimesen viikon jokaisena päivänä mutta tuli vähän... muuttujia. :D Kummiskin, halusin esitellä teille uudet rakastajani, joiden syleily on varsin tiukkaa tavaraa. <3

The lover number one is this gorgeous Erotex halfbust. <3 I bought this from lovely Lady Grotesca. I actually thought that this would have been a fullbust but since it looks and feels so wonderful I really don't mind! Mr. Wolf seemed to be especially fond with this one. ;3

Rakastaja numero yksi on tämä upea Erotexin halfbust. <3 Ostin tämän ihanalta Lady Grotescalta. Luulin itse asiassa tämän olevan fullbust mutta koska tämä joka tapauksessa näyttää ja tuntuu niin ihanalta ei mitään väliä! Susihukka näytti pitävän tästä erityisesti. ;3

The lover number two I bought from Corsets UK sale. This one isn't nearly as comfortable as the previous one, but it creates a very nice waist even for the square old me. :D The skirt I'm wearing in the picture is self-made, since I totally needed something to wear with these lovelies. <3 The fishnet tights I bought quite recently from some sweet old lady who was giving up her lingerie store. They cost me only five euros and by the feel and look of the quality I'd say they probably cost something around 20-30 euros originally so it was a total bargain! These corsets cost me around 50 euros each (shipping included) and the skirt was free since I made it with materials I already had (fabric was new and the zipper reused).

Rakastaja numero kakkosen ostin Corsets UK:n alesta.Tämä ei ole läheskään yhtä mukava päällä kuin edellinen, mutta luo upean vyötärön jopa tällaiselle tasapaksulle pötkylälle kuin minä. :D Kuvassa olevan hameen ompelin kaveriksi näille upeuksille. <3 Verkkosukkikset ostin aika hiljattain eräältä ihastuttavalta mummelilta joka lopetti alusvaateliikkeensä. Sain ne vitosella ja tuntuvat ja näyttävät muuten sen verral laadukkailta että alkuperäinen hinta lienee ollut jotain 20-30 euron välillä, joten melkoinen mäihä kävi näiden kanssa! Korsetit kustansivat posteineen n. 50e/kpl ja hame oli ilmainen koska väkersin sen aikaisemmin ostetusta kankaasta ja uudelleenkäytetystä vetskarista.

In a couple of months you will get a better look of the first corset since I wore it for a modelling gig and I will publish the photos as soon as I can and tell you more about that awesome project. :3

Parin kuukeuden sisään näette muuten parempaa kuvamateriaalia tuosta ensimmäisestä korsetista, käytin sitä nimittäin yhdellä malleilukeikalla ja julkaisen kuvat heti kun mahdollista ja kerron lisää tuosta projektista ylipäätään. :3

But now I'm going to go rinse the dye out of my hair! Nothing fancy, just dying my roots for Kuopio Rockcock. :3 Which reminds me... only two days of work and then four (!!!) free days in a row! Come and poke me if you see me there. ;3

Mutta nyt kipitän hyyhtomaan värin tukastani! Ei mitään erityistä tiedossa, kunhan värjäilin juurikasvun pois Kuopio Rockcockia varten. :3 Mistä muistuikin mieleeni että enää kaksi työpäivää ja sitten neljä (!!!) vapaata peräkkäin! Tulkaa muuten tökkimään jos satutte törmäämään. ;3

Victorian

I've always loved stairways and hallways in old Victorian houses. Since I had a tiny hallway of my own I decided to make it look like one of those beautiful staircases with historical paintings, well, as much as possible. I bought different kind of frames (paid like 1 or 2 euros each), painted them black and put some nice pictures of me and Wolf inside them. Here's how it turned out!

Olen aina rakastanut viktoriaanisten talojen portaikkoja ja käytäviä. Koska meiltäkin löytyy pikkuinen pala käytävää päätin yrittää tehdä siitä mahdollisimman samannäköise kuin nuo upeat portaikot vanhoine muotokuvineen. Muotokuviksi ostin erilaisia kehyksiä eurolla tai parilla kirppiksiltä, maalasin ne mustiksi ja laitoin sisään kuvia minusta ja Susihukasta. Tällainen siitä tuli!

 

I also purchased a new mat for our kitchen, since the old one was so ragged and mats were on sale in Anttila a while ago. This cost around... 13e? Somehow I ended up choosing pink... I have no idea why but we have pink kitchen now. :D

Ostin myös uuden maton keittiöön, edellinen oli jo sellaisessa kunnossa ettei sitä edes pesu ja parsinneula enää pelastanut ja Anttilassa sattui olemaan matot alessa tuossa taannoin. Tämä maksoi muistaakseni jotain 13e? Jostain syystä päädyin ottamaan pinkin, joten meillä on nyt sitten pinkki keittiö. :D

Walking in the air

So... I've had this one project like a year or so... :D About a year ago I found a classic pair of "stripper heels" from a local flea market. They were in a really bad shape. The once transparent glue had turned orange/brown, they were really dirty and all the straps were ragged. However, I was somewhat drawn to them and decided to buy them. I cleaned them and tried to do something about the straps... with little success. However. This is how they looked back then...

Mulla on ollut yksi projekti keskeneräsenä varmaan vuoden... :D Noin vuosi sitten ostin sellaset stripparikorkkarit paikalliselta kirppikseltä. Ihan paskakuntoset. Liimat tummunu kauniin oranssinruskeiksi, kaikki remmit purkautunu ja ihan helvetin likaiset ne oli. Jotain mä niissä kuitenkin näin ja päätin ostaa ne. Kotona sitte puunasin ja koetin tehdä jotain niille remmeille laihoin tuloksin. Mutta siis tältä ne näytti silloin...

Well at least the picture was good since I took in on our photography class at school. :D But anyway. I wasn't happy with the straps so I decided to take the whole shoes apart and replace them with something nicer. I also had this rather wacky idea for the plateau... Taking the shoe apart was hard work and gluing it back together was even more bitchy. xD The results wasn't quite as good as I had hoped since the glue was... well... nevermind. Anyway, here's how the shoes turned out!

Noh kuva on ainaki hyvä, otin tuon koulun valokuvauskurssilla. :D Kummiski. En ollu tyytyväinen noihin remmeihin joten päätin sitte purkaa koko monot atomeiksi ja korvata nuo remmit jollain kivemmalla ratkaisulla. Aloin saada myös villejä ajatuksia tuota platoa koskien... Kenkien purkaminen oli paskamaista puuhaa ja takaisin kasaan liimaaminen vielä vittumaisempaa. xD Lopputulos ei vieläkään ole täysin tyydyttävä koska liima... meni... miten meni... kumminki. Noh, tässä lopputulos!

So as you can see I replaced the straps with satin ribbon and added studs and pink fake leather inside the  heels & plateaus. It was a good idea I think, but the gluing could have been better. :P Anyway, I would totally like to know what you think about this DIY project! And what you would have done with the transparent plateaus? I read somewhere that they even put living goldfish and water in those in the 70's.... I wonder if it's true? o_o

Kuten näkyy korvasin remmit satiininauhoilla ja laitoin platojen sisään pinkkiä tekonahkaa ja niittejä. Idea toimii mielestäni, mutta liimaus olis saanu onnistua paremmin. :P Kummiskin, olis mukava tietää mitä te lukijat tykkäätte tästä DIY-projektista! Ja mitä te olisitte noiden platojen sisään laittaneet? Luin jostain että seitkytluvulla noihin laitettiin jopa vettä ja eläviä kultakaloja... onkohan noin? o_o

Let's do the time warp again!

Last week me and Wolf went to see some burlesque for a change. :3 The night had Rocky Horror theme so I decided to dress up a bit. I didn't have much money or time though, so I just bought the cheapest fabric with sequins and made a dress, a bow and a a mini top hat. The whole outfit was mostly just cut & tie + safety pins and hot glue. xD Anyway, it was (loosely) inspired by Columbia (and Wolf's was inspired by Eddie of course <3). Here's a quick snapshot of how it turned out. :3

Viime viikolla käytiin vaihteeksi Susihukan kanssa tiirailemassa burleskia. :3 Illan teemana oli Rocky Horror joten teki mieli pukeutua teemaan sopivasti, edes vähän. Mulla ei tosin ollut juuri rahaa saati aikaa, joten ostin halvinta paljettikangasta mitä löysin ja väkersin siitä mekon, rusetin ja minisilinterin. Koska ainaa oli niukasti lähinnä leikkelin ja solmin kangasta, plus kuumaliimailin ja kiinnittelin juttuja hakaneuloilla. xD Joka tapauksessa asu on (löyhästi) saanut vaikutteita Columbiasta (ja Susihukan asu tietysti Eddiestä <3). Tässä pikainen kuva asusta baarin vessassa. :3

I tried to take photos of the show itself but they were all kind of blurry or otherwise crappy... so you are not getting any, boohoo. Please go see some burlesque live instead. ;)

Yritin ottaa kuvia myös itse esityksestä mutta kaikki otokset olivat tärähtänyttä kurapaskaa joten ette saa mitään, yhyy. Sen sijaan suosittelen että käytte kattelemassa burleskia ihan livenä. ;)

Dread

So. I've been dreaming of making my very first dread wig. I personally think that living with dread extensions actually attached to my head was way too hard (tried that a couple of years back) but they look so awesome so maybe this would be a good solution for me. I had some black DE dreads already and I recently bought some more from Countess Báthory. Then  I just bought a cheap wig from Pilailupuoti and started working!

Mun unelma on pitkään ollu väkertää mun eka rastaperuukki. Muutama vuosi takaperin kokeilin elää kuiturastat kiinni mun päässä ja se ei todellakaan ollu mun juttu, ihan liian rankkaa! Silti, koska ne näyttää niin uskomattoman ihanilta joten aattelin että tää vois olla mulle sopiva ratkaisu. Mulla oli siis valmiina jo muutamia kakspäisiä rastoja ja hiljattain ku ostin Countess Báthoryltä niitä lisää tollasen lisäkkeen muodossa enää puuttu joku halpisperuukki jonka mulle tarjoili Pilailupuoti. Ja ei kun hommiin!

The dreads sewn into the wig. I also added some of my own hair(!) from when I cut my bangs (I saved the little ponytail :3). The hair is attached to the other side of the fringe. Oh and I also added the pvc bandana by sewing.

Tässä rastat ommeltuna peruukkiin. Lisäsin otsikseen vähän mun omaa hiusta(!) (säästin sellasen pikku poninhännän ku leikkasin itelleni viimeksi otsiksen :3). Ompelin siihen myös ton pvc-bandanan.

Teehee just something I made out of a peace of elastic band. I bought the band from Red Cross second hand shop's DIY table, cost like 20-50 cents, can't remember anymore. :3

Hihii tein tämmösen yks päivä kuminauhasta jonka ostin Kontin askartelupöydästä muutamalla kymmenellä sentillä. :3

Halloween is probably my favorite celebration. Every year we hold a Halloween party for our friends with ghoulish treats, music and costumes. This year Wolf wanted to be an executioner (I totally have a thing for executioners!! *____* <3) and to match him I decided to go as decapitated Marie Antoinette. :D We didn't have that much money for the costumes so I made most of them myself. Wolf's hood used to be a t-shirt and my dress was made of a ragged corset top with broken bones and an old torn up sheet. Actually I had sewn the dress year ago for Zombie walk but it turned out nice enough so it deserved a new round. :) The wig turned out to be a bit of a problem, since the "dutchess" wigs were pretty expensive. Instead of purchasing one of those, I bought this one and tacked it together with thread. Then I just added some spiders and voilà! (I had some latex and fake blood left from this years Zombie walk so I didn't have to buy those). Anyway, here's how our costumes turned out!

Halloween on suosikkijuhlani. Joka vuosi järkkäämme Susihukan kanssa bileet ystäville, karmivine syötävineen, teemamusiikkeineen ja pukuineen. Tänä vuonna Susihukka halusi olla pyöveli (mulla on todellakin joku juttu niihin!! *____* <3) ja pitihän mun mätsätä, eli päätin olla päänsä menettänyt Marie Antoinette. :D Meillä ei ollut paljoakaan rahaa käytettävissä pukuihin, joten ompelin lähes kaiken itse. Susihukka sai hupun vanhasta t-paidasta ja oma mekkoni oli tehty kovia kokeneesta korsettitopista ja halkinaidusta lakanasta. Mekon olin oikeastaan ommellut jo vuosi sitten Zombie walkia varten mutta siitä tuli sen verran hieno että se ansaitsi toisen kierroksen. :) Peruukki muodostui pieneksi ongelmaksi, sillä "herttuatar" -mallin peruukit tuppaavat olemaan melko kalliita. En sitten ostanut sellaista, vaan tämän ja kursin sen muotoonsa langan avulla. Lisäsin koristeeksi muutaman hämähäkin ja tättärää valmista tuli! (Lateksia ja tekoverta löytyi Zombie walkin jäljiltä omasta takaa, ei onneksi tarvinnut niitä hankkia). Joka tapauksessa tässäpä tuunauksien tulokset!

Also, I noticed I forgot to make a post about the latest Zombie walk event. :D Here's a couple of pictures from there too! This years theme was mutants so it was a bit hard... :D

Huomasinpas tuossa että olen kokonaan unohtanut tehdä postauksen edellisestä Zombie walkista. :D Tässä siis pari kuvaa sieltäkin! Tämän vuoden teema oli mutantit, hieman hankalaa siis... :D

And finally, since today (yesterday actually...) was the official Halloween I decided to dress up a little bit for school as well. :)

Ja koska tänään (tai oikeastaan eilen...) oli virallinen Halloween niin pukeuduin teemaa noudatellen myös kouluun. :)

I have one more Halloween party coming up next thursday, yay! I have not yet decided what will I wear though... yikes! Have you readers been dressing up for All Hallow's Eve? :)

Hi again! It's raining cats and dogs outside so it's a great day to do a little blogging. :> I thought that today I could update my recent (and not so recent) shopping.

Hei taas. Ulkona sataa kaatamalla, joten on hyvä päivä bloggailla vähän. :> Ajattelin postata tänään viimeaikaisia (ja ei niin viimeaikaisia) ostoksiani.

Let's begin with the camo top from the flea market, 50 cents. Basic and useful. :P Then the black porcelain mask from the flea market also. Can't remember the price, I think it was 1,50 or 2 euros... cheap anyway. I hung it over our hallway mirror. :>

Aloitetaan camotopilla joka on irtosi kirppikseltä 50 sentillä. Kätevä perusvaate. :P Tuo musta posliininaamio on myös kirppikseltä. En muista tarkkaa hintaa, mutta olisiko ollut 1,50 tai 2 euroa.... halpa kummiski. Ripustin sen eteisen peilin päälle. :>

Fluff pillbox I bought from a booth at midsummer fest. It was only 3 euros and since if I'm not on any meds except the Implanon implant I'm going to use it as a wallet. :>

Fluffin dosetin ostin kojusta juhannuksena. Hinta oli vaivaiset 3 euroa ja koska minulla ei ole muita lääkityksiä kuin Implanonin ehkäisykapseli aijon käyttää sitä kukkarona. :>

The larger photo frames are from a nearby flea market, 1,50 each. I'm going to paint them black. :3 The leather frame is from a flea market also, I think it was 1 or 1,5 euros... Notice the picture of me and Wolf from the last zombiewalk in Oulu. :D

Isommat kehykset läytyivät kirpparilta, 1,50 kappale. Malaan ne vielä mustaksi. :3 Nahkainen kehys on myös kiirppislöytö, olisiko ollut euron tai puolitoista... Huomatkaa kuva minusta ja Susihukasta Oulun viime zombiewalkista. :D

A leather pencil case for Wolf, I guess it was 1e or less. The skull pencil case for myelf, 50 cents if I remember correctly. And the can was 50 cents too I suppose.

Nahkainen penaali Susihukalle, maksoi muistaakseni euron tai vähemmän. Kallopenali itselleni, olisiko ollut 50 senttiä. Purkki samaten jos oikein muistan.

A leather collar from a flea market, 3e. I've been thinking about getting a similar one from Deviant but I got lucky! o/

Nahkainen kaulapanta kirppikseltä, 3e. Olin ajatellut ostaa vastaavanlaisen Deviantista mutta minua onnisti. o/

2 bags, larger one is Marimekko and it cost me 1e and the smaller one is a German army bread bag, 6e. Both are from a nearby flea market.

2 laukkua, isompi on Marimekon ja maksoi vaivaisen euron ja pienempi on Saksan armeijan leipälaukku joka kustansi 6e. Molemmat löytyivät läheiseltä kirppikseltä.

A "Happy cat" bottle was 2e and the corset bottle... I guess 2e if I remember correctly. Both from a flea market.

Two skulls. The one on the left is a skull of a bear and the one on the right is from a reindeer. They cost me 10e each. I just couldn't resist the appealing stare of those empty eye sockets... :D

Kaksi kalloa. Vasemmanpuoleinen on peräisin karhusta ja oikeanpuoleinen porosta. Nuo kustansivat minulle kympin kappaleelta. En voinut vastustaa noiden tyhjien silmäkuoppien vetoavaa tuijotusta... :D

I also updated our bedroom a bit. You see, previously I used to sit on the couch with my laptop but when I got my first paycheck for the summer I decided it was time for me to get a proper working space and (finally) a new tablet. I decided to locate my new headquarters in our bedroom so one of the two shelves had to go to make room for the table. Me and Wolf dumbster dived the table so it was free, I just painted it glossy black and the chair I bought from a flea market with 10e and painted that too. At the same time I changes out bedspread for something more comfortable and relocated the paintings. What do you think? :>

Päivittelin myös meidän makkaria hieman. Datasin ennen sohvalla läppäri sylissä mutta nyt kun sain kesän ekan palkan päätin laittaa itselleni kunnollisen työtilan ja (viimeinkin) uuden piirtopöydän. Päätin sijoittaa uuden päämajani makkariin, joten toinen hyllyistä sai tehdä tilaa pöydälle. Dyykattiin tuo pöytä Susihukan kanssa, eli se oli ilmainen, maalasin sen vain kiiltävän mustaksi ja tuolin ostin kirppikseltä kympillä ja maalasin senkin. Samalla vaihdoin päiväpeitteen mukavampaan ja siirsin tauluja. Mitä tykkätte? :>

And then, last but not least... the tablet. I decided to go with Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch from Verkkokauppa.com. Wolf even installed it for me last night when I was asleep, thank you honey. <3 So far I have been satisfied with it. :>

Viimeisimpänä, vaan ei vähäisimpänä... piirtopöytä.. Päädyin verkkokauppa.comin Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touchiin. Susihukka jopa asensi tämän minulle sillä aikaa kun nukuin viime yönä, kiitos kulta. <3 Tähän mennessä olen ollut tyytyväinen ostokseeni. :>

Phew. I think that was about it. I have also bougth a pair of black shorts and pants, but since they still need to be washed I'll post them later... maybe. They are pretty basic anyway... :D Anyway, I think I'll go do some drawing now. So long and thanks for the fish!

Huh, siinä taisi olla kaikki. Paitsi olen ostanut myös mustat shortsit ja housut, mutta koska ne ovat pyykissä taidan postata ne myöhemmin... ehkä. Ei ne nyt kovin erikoiset ole kummiskaan... :D No mutta häviän tästä piistelemään. Terve ja kiitos kaloista!
